Many thanks to Val of Time Traveling in Costume for the lovely photos
Completed 2005
This was my second attempt at a Regency gown. I have no photos of my first, unfortunately, but it was from a Wingeo pattern and looked more like the late 1820s than the traditional high waisted Regency gown. This yellow gown was made of an Indian sari and the pattern was taken from Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion. I remember it took a lot of manuvering to get it close to my size- the proportions were for a more "endowed" lady than myself, and I had to fiddle with the material gathers in the front to get it to lay in a more flattering way.
